A police constable has told of seeing his senior officer knee a prisoner so hard he heard the air come out of his gut.
Martin Folan, a West Auckland police sergeant, is on trial in the Auckland District Court for six charges of assault and one of injuring with intent to injure.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Constable Reuben Jakich today told the court he witnessed Folan knee Joseph McGee – a man who had just been arrested for disorderly behaviour – in the stomach.
McGee, who testified on Tuesday, said the incident led to his testicle becoming “like potato mash” and requiring amputation.
